“There is no chance”- Napoli chief hands blow to Liverpool in pursuit of 21-year-old star

Napoli chief Cristiano Giuntoli gives a big blow to Liverpool by saying Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is not for sale

Liverpool have shown a lot of interest in signing Napoli’s 21-year-old Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. In 17 appearances across all competitions for Napoli this season, Khvicha has eight goals and ten assists to his name.

After stellar performances for Luciano Spalletti’s side throughout this season, Kvaratskhelia has established himself as a force to reckon with in the future. Even in the game against Liverpool at the Italian side’s home ground, he got an assist before he walked off the pitch before the half-time period due to an injury scare.

In less than six months after securing a transfer to Napoli from Rubin Kazan in Russia, ‘Kvara’ has wasted absolutely no time in showing the football world his talent. And Liverpool were among those who surely noticed.

However, Napoli chief Cristiano Giuntoli gave Liverpool a huge blow in their pursuit of the player by letting us know that the player is absolutely not for sale and “there is no chance” for any team to sign him in January.

Here is what he told Sport Express via The Mirror:

“No, there’s no chance we will let him go. It doesn’t depend on the fee or on the proposal; he will just stay with us.”

With Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz currently nursing their respective injury issues, a move for a left-winger would have made total sense. Even after their return, Diaz and Kvara could fight for a place in the XI, with Jota, Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino in the mix for the #9 spot.

‘The Georgian Messi’

If Kvara can keep up the consistency in the second half of the campaign as well, he will become a guaranteed star for Napoli. Hopefully, a good offer could certainly change Napoli’s mind and Liverpool can get their man on board.

The player’s contract with Napoli only expires in 2027 (Transfermarkt) and hence, the Reds will in all likelihood have it extremely tough to lure the winger out of Italy.

At last, even though there seems to be no urgent need for a winger, having a backup in an injury-prone Liverpool team can never go wrong. Besides, he is a player for the future and could take the Reds to newer heights in the future.
