Liverpool legend cites Steve McManaman example to highlight Jude Bellingham worry

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler shares Jude Bellingham concern

Seldom do we see a player snub a chance to join Real Madrid who are arguably the biggest club in the world. Liverpool and Los Blancos also share a number of players. Michael Owen, Xabi Alonso, Steve McManaman, and Alvaro Arbeloa among others. Not only that, but the teams in the recent past have also shared several transfer targets as well.

More recently, Real Madrid beat the Reds to the signature of Aurelien Tchouameni in the summer of 2023 and the midfielder ever since has been excellent for the Spanish giants. But Liverpool certainly cannot let go of Jude Bellingham

who stands linked with both clubs presently.

Following the Reds’ midfield issues most of which stands prevalent ever since the departure of Gini Wijnaldum to Paris Saint-Germain in 2020, for whom we have not found a replacement yet, Liverpool stand linked with many central midfielders and Jude is one of the top players among them.

Liverpool must break the bank for Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler, who saw his team-mate Macca snub the Reds for Madrid in 1999, shares his concern over the same fact and worries that Bellingham could do the same as well. Here is what he said via Liverpool Echo:

“The reality is that the irresistible lure of wearing that gleaming all-white kit at the Bernabeu every other week is much more than just another footballing cliche. I saw how my mate Steve McManaman had his head turned by the chance to move to Madrid back in 1999.”

Bellingham Dilemma

Even though Real Madrid are footballing heritage, Liverpool cannot concede this transfer saga to them. We have been on Bellingham’s trail since almost the beginning of time and from the outside, the addition of Jude to the squad seems perfect.

With the contracts of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita nearing an end and most of the other midfielders also showing signs of ageing, it would be extremely wise if the club dips into the transfer market and gets their man on board.

Real Madrid have Edouard Camavinga, Fede Valverde and Tchouameni in their squad and Bellingham, unlike the Reds, is not a necessity for Carlo Ancelotti and Co.
