Mohamed Salah climbs to seventh on the Liverpool all-time top scorers’ list

After finding the back of the net in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw to Wolves in the FA Cup, Mohamed Salah overtook Sir Kenny Dalglish as the club’s seventh-highest goal-scorer in all competitions. Mo stood tied with King Kenny at 172 when he put one beyond Robin Olsen in Liverpool’s win against Aston Villa on 27th December.

With his 173rd goal for the Reds, he moves up to the seventh spot below “God” Robbie Fowler who is in sixth place with 183 goals and a total of 186 goals. Steven Gerrard is a close fifth, both of whom Mo could overtake this season.

Ever since joining the Reds from AS Roma back in 2017, The Egyptian King has certainly been an extremely important figure in Liverpool’s success over the last few seasons. The player has never scored less than 34 goals in the league for the Reds, and even this season, has 17 goals and six assists for the Reds across all competitions in 26 appearances.

The Egyptian King never stops scoring

173 goals and 69 assists in 280 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions, it could hardly get any better, no? The Egyptian international, even throughout the ups and downs of the current campaign, has been scoring goals consistently and that speaks levels to the individual quality of the player.

However, it is extremely unfortunate that Salah’s lone performances have failed to translate into the team’s success as a whole as we have to replay this draw against Wolves in the FA Cup at a later stage. Moreover, the Reds sit in sixth place on the points table, and that is also not something which is improving, much like our form ever since club football restarted after the World Cup.

Certain sections of the media also say that Salah does not seem to be at his best. With those numbers, if a player is not at his best, one could only imagine how clinical he could get with the rest of the squad on the same tangent as him in the coming weeks. Moreover, it is extremely important for the team to not lose hope and confidence, and strive to outperform their opponents week in and week out.
