“Lost our identity”- Former Anfield favourite blasts Liverpool for Wolves draw

Former EPL star Jose Enrique gives his verdict on Liverpool vs Wolves

Many were to comment on the way Liverpool played in their 2-2 draw against Wolves in the FA Cup third-round fixture, which is now subject to a replay. Goals from Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez were not enough for the Reds to see out the job thanks to their defensive frailties.

The visitors created plenty of chances and they would probably think that their performances deserved more than just a draw. However, Liverpool were lucky to get off with as Wolves’ third goal was ruled out due to offside, which in itself was a questionable decision.

Liverpool seem like they did not learn much from the 3-1 thrashing at Brentford, and even the mediocre performance against Leicester before that. As former Liverpool left-back, Jose Enrique rightly pointed out via Twitter, it seems like we are losing our identity.

The style of play seems like there is no cohesion in the way the Reds are playing, and to sum it up in layman’s terms, Liverpool are playing for the vibes and it is alarming as most of our competitors in the title race are catching up on good form, and continue to resurge.

Tough to see a struggling Liverpool side

Meanwhile, Liverpool is struggling to win Cup Games against opposition that did not even start the game at full strength. This is proving to be very frustrating for a number of supporters, and as fans, we can do nothing but only hope that Liverpool will turn their season around starting with the next game.

It has been a difficult season for the team so far, but we are hopeful that they will be able to turn things around and start achieving better results.

Disagreeing with Enrique’s stand will take a lot of courage as it is almost like not believing the naked eye. Our performances and our standings are enough proof that the Reds are not playing at their usual best, and the identity of a strong pressing team is slowly starting to fade off which is not nice by any means for the club as a whole.

Hopefully, the people in charge do something to reignite the flame in the Reds’ squad. The midfield needs a complete reshuffle, and only big investments can ensure that it happens.
