Wolves make an official complaint to Howard Webb on disallowed FA Cup goal vs Liverpool

Wolves have submitted an official complaint to Howard Webb regarding the disallowed goal against Liverpool

According to Daily Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers have filed an official complaint to referee’s chief Howard Webb over the disallowed goal against Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup.

It has not been the best of weeks for Liverpool supporters and after the 3-1 drubbing by the hands of Brentford in the league, many expected Liverpool to give a solid performance against a side which is currently 19th in the league.

However, nothing much happened and we actually gave the first goal due to an error from Alisson Becker. The Brazilian has been one of our best performers this season and to see him drop the ball was uncharacteristic.

We did strike two goals back to have a comfortable lead only for Ibrahima Konate and Alisson to have a mix-up which led to the Wolves’ second goal during the final stages of the game.

Things could have turned out worse for us when Toti Gomes put Wolves up after horrible defending in the box by our players but the opposition’s celebration was cut short with the game being deemed offside.

It created numerous arguments at the post-game analysis of whether the goal should have been ruled out as it did not seem offside at all to the naked eye when Toti scored the goal through a backheel.

Even Jurgen Klopp resonated with the opposition’s disappointment over the disallowed goal and believed that one camera angle is not enough to help VAR come to the correct decision.

‘I’m not sure about their third goal. We have one picture where it may look offside, but I can understand why they are angry about it. We don’t want the VAR to just have one angle.’

Hence the reason behind the Wolves’ official complaint to Howard Webb looking for possible explanations to justify the disallowed goal.

However, now the game has gone past and any possible explanation would not change the result and good or bad, it has provided us with another opportunity to proceed to the next round when it all felt that we were crashing out.

More Liverpool News:

As defending champions, going out in the third round would have been humiliating and the FA Cup does represent one of our only chances of silverware this season.

Hence, the disallowed goal came as a blessing in disguise for us and hopefully we are able to set things straight when the two teams meet in the replay to be played on January 17th at the Molineux.
