Liverpool urged to sign Moises Caicedo by former USMNT star Janusz Michallik

Moises Caicedo of Brighton and Hove Albion sees himself on Liverpool FC’s transfer radar for quite a while now. The 21-year-old Ecuadorian is making a name for himself after brilliant performances in the World Cup, and now for the Seagulls in the Premier League.

In 29 appearances for the Sussex-based outfit across all competitions, Caicedo has two goals and three assists to his name. His work rates both offensively and defensively have been a treat to watch, and by the looks of it, he seems like a player who could fit in the Jurgen Klopp style of play at Anfield.

Caicedo’s versatility to play any of the midfield roles just as well as the other is also something the Liverpool manager will keep an eye on as it makes him an enticing prospect to have on board at the Reds.

Speaking on ESPN (h/t Liverpool Echo), former USA international Janusz Michallik spoke about why it is Liverpool to have a player like Caicedo and his profile on board at the Reds and here is what he said:

“Caicedo, for Liverpool, I would do it now, if there’s a way. They need legs.”

“That midfield needs legs. And that’s exactly what you’re going to get. A physical player, box-to-box, he can defend, he can attack. We saw his goal at the World Cup.”

“Moises Caicedo, the profile for Liverpool, at this moment, they need it now, they need it right away because that’s not going to be easily fixed even when everybody’s healthy. That would be a perfect signing.”

A few days ago, Caicedo spoke on Brighton’s Official Website about his desire to guide the Seagulls to a Europa League spot at the end of the season implying that he could possibly not want to move this January and that could turn out problematic for Liverpool.

Could Caicedo Move to Liverpool?

We need a fix to our midfield situation as two issues of an ageing squad and inconsistent performances create a Venn Diagram at Anfield and that is leading to a lot of unsteadiness in the current campaign for the Reds.

The signing of a young prospect like Caicedo who has loads of potential will certainly help negate the problems Liverpool face in the midfield. Moreover, if we could get our hands on our long-term transfer targets in the summer, our transitioning midfield will have a number of players who could reduce the impact a transition would have a great deal.
