Liverpool interest in World Cup ace ‘confirmed’ following Brighton hammering

Liverpool interest in Sofyan Amrabat ‘confirmed’ after Brighton loss

Liverpool FC’s need for a midfielder would have certainly become more apparent after the 3-0 loss to Roberto de Zerbi’s Brighton and Hove Albion. More than the scoreline, it was the way how the Reds’ midfielders did not show any urgency in pressing their Brighton counterparts.

Moreover, without the ball, it almost seemed like having Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo upfront was of no use at all. This game hopefully makes the senior management at Liverpool understand the need to sign a midfielder or two.

The Mirror reports on behalf of Calciomercato and confirm the Merseysiders’ interest in Fiorentina’s Moroccan defensive-midfielder Sofyan Amrabat. The 26-year-old has been on the transfer radar for the Reds ever since his top-class performance for his country in the World Cup in Qatar.

Liverpool need midfielders

With the pair of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho looking extremely shaky in defensive duties, signing someone like Amrabat could help the Reds a great deal in showing more defensive solidity. However, it is extremely important for Jurgen Klopp and co. to not show any urgency in the Transfer market.

Even though the player was mighty impressive in Qatar, his performance in the previous 18 months for the Serie A outfit even though great, do not certainly warrant interest from one of the best clubs in the world like the Reds.

The summer promises a number of players who would want a switch, and the Reds will be wise to show some patience and not hurry into the decision of getting a player on board. A number of players including the likes of Jude Bellingham who are much more proven than Amrabat could be available and hence, waiting before making a bid is ideal.

More Liverpool News:

Two things though are certain. The team’s performance has been affected by the absence of crucial players due to injuries, revealing a lack of depth in the squad. To improve their chances of success, the team should acquire new players and increase the overall strength in depth of the squad.
