“Need to bounce back”- Liverpool ace calls for a response after brighten hammering

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold reflects back on the loss to Brighton

For most of the game, it felt like Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold had a tough time defending against Brighton star Kaoru Mitoma. The Scouser indeed had his defensive moments but made two world-class goal-line clearances early in the game as well.

Calling only him out for the loss is unfair when the whole team was not playing well. However, there are no doubts about whether he could have done better given the positions he found himself in. This loss against the Seagulls makes it only two wins from the last five games across all competitions and there is an urgent need for better performances from every player with the Liverbird on their chest.

Trent, who has been defensively solid for most of the season, found himself on the wrong side of the track and that is something which could turn out to be worrisome for the Reds. But nonetheless, he still is an integral part of the squad and he would hope to deliver better performances from the get-go.

Speaking of the immediate need to bounce back and put this unfortunate result behind the team, here is what Alexander-Arnold told the club’s official website:

“We don’t want anything like this to happen again and we need to bounce back – that’s something that is a given at this point now. We need to bounce back in the next one.”

Trent for the Reds

Liverpool play four matches in the next month from now including two games against the Wolves. One is the FA Cup replay after the 2-2 draw earlier this month and the other is a Premier League fixture. Two big games also come up in the league including the Merseyside Derby at Anfield before which we take on Chelsea also at home.

Trent will certainly play a key role in all of these games. Hopefully, the player focusing too much on the defensive aspect of his game doesn’t take away from his attacking output. A worrisome stat from the current season is the fact that Trent has only two assists across all competitions.

Alexander-Arnold will likely play a crucial role in Liverpool’s upcoming matches. The team has been struggling with poor form recently, but his ability to provide strong crosses and set-piece deliveries could help create scoring opportunities for his teammates.
