“Low on confidence”- Jordan Henderson gives his verdict on painful loss to Brighton

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson talks about the Dressing Room atmosphere after Brighton loss

The results on show from the Reds in the Premier League this season surely do not satisfy anyone associated with Liverpool Football Club and certainly not skipper Jordan Henderson. The 32-year-old is unfortunately one of the players who is not at his best this season, to say the least.

The skipper is unmistakably beyond his prime but his performances in recent games seem like the player is forgetting the philosophy of Jurgen Klopp’s style of play to press the opposition. Having said that, it is important for the Reds to put these losses behind them and learn from these games.

It’s been four games since everyone has been repeatedly saying these things, but nothing implies that the players are changing anything in their approach to games and it is the same thing of letting the opposition walk past our midfield to eventually penetrate through our defence and give us all sleepless nights.

The dressing room certainly won’t be the happiest place at the moment, and speaking to the club’s official website, here is what Hendo noted about the same after the embarrassing 3-0 loss to Brighton on Saturday:

“Not good, as you can imagine. Pretty low, low on confidence – you can see that when we’re playing – energy levels low, everything. Like I said, it’s no good feeling sorry for ourselves. I’ve been through moments like this in my career and you’ve got to keep fighting, you’ve got to keep going and hopefully we can change it sooner rather than later.”

Tough Road for the Reds ahead

It is only right for him to back his words via his performances, and that is something we are yet to see this season from the former Sunderland man. The environment in the dressing room is just a reflection of the way the players are doing their job on the pitch — low energy levels and a sorry feeling for themselves.

It is high time that the Reds learn from their mistakes and put in a better shift going deep into the season. Playing this way will put our chances of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League next season.

In the extremely unlikely situation that we win the competition this season, it could play in our favour, but without the prospect of the UCL, not many top players would be willing to join the squad in the summer as well.

More Liverpool News:

Is it maybe time for Klopp to change his tactics to accommodate a new formation amid the injury issues and inconsistent performances? The manager’s reluctance to not let go of his favoured 4-3-3 formation is not playing in the Reds’ favour and it would certainly be refreshing to see a new formation as well.
