Mohamed Salah urges ‘calm’ and admits it’s a ‘tough situation’ at Liverpool

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah won the Reds’ Player of the Month award for December. In the three games we played in the month, we won against Aston Villa and Leicester in the league, but unfortunately couldn’t get the better of Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.

Salah scored a goal each in all but the one game against the Foxes wherein the Reds won thanks to two own goals. Speaking to the club’s official website on the award and the upcoming games for the Reds, he spoke about how the dressing room environment changed after the win against Wolves and it is important to carry the momentum.

“It’s always good to win it, but [over] the last couple of weeks we all know we should do better and hopefully the results will be better in the next few games.”

“The players were so excited after the game [at Wolves]. We have a really good group, the players all around try to stick together and just lift each other.”

Liverpool are certainly not in the best of forms and need to get back to their best soon if they are to salvage their season. A win against Wolves in the FA Cup Third Round Replay was our first win of the new year and can serve as a potential stepping stone to keep building.

Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah is our top goalscorer this season.

The importance of Liverpool’s form for the rest of the campaign cannot stand overstated. They are currently as far away as possible from a top-four finish in the Premier League, which would secure them a spot in next season’s Champions League. Currently, in the ninth position, Salah’s form will for sure help the Reds continue their winning streak which sits at one game presently.

Tough time for the Reds?

Crunch games against Chelsea, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United are coming up and it is imperative that we keep winning. Regardless of whether further reinforcements are brought in this month, Jurgen Klopp’s side have no choice but to keep going.

As Salah said, it is a worrisome situation for the Reds presently. They need to calm themselves and try to reassess their strengths and weaknesses as the identity of intensity is weakening. The legs seem to ironically “stand” gone and a rebuild is the need of the hour.

We cannot afford to drop points now, and Salah’s form is crucial in helping them secure the points needed. His performances will certainly be key in helping Liverpool to achieve their goal of a top-four finish, and his ability to score important goals will be crucial in the coming weeks and months.

If he could receive a bit more help from his midfielder teammates, Salah’s numbers would be better this season, and so would be the team’s case. Hence, it is extremely important for the Reds to not lose their head because of a phase of bad form and have the belief in themselves to bounce back stronger.
