Everyone probably knows Liverpool FC and their not-so-well-kept secret interest in Jude Bellingham. The Reds undoubtedly want him to make his presence felt on the pitch rather than just being on the transfer speculation list. and one kind gentleman is ready to help get the player on board at the club.
A certain Steven Gerrard who happened to play 710 games for the Reds is all-in to help the club get the 19-year-old on board. Gerrard is certainly a Liverpool legend and Bellingham has openly spoken about how he idolised the Reds’ captain back when he was younger.
Speaking on BT Sport before Liverpool’s afternoon kick-off against Chelsea, the 2005 UEFA Champions League winning captain told how is ready to fly out to Germany to convince the player to join the Reds, and after the performance against the Blues, one would agree that we certainly need Bellingham in the Liverpool kit sooner than later.
Ahead of Liverpool’s showdown with Chelsea, Stevie expressed his admiration for the midfielder while speaking to BT Sport and here is what he said [h/t Liverpool Echo]:
“All he needs to do is send his diary to me, I’ll fly to Dortmund, we’ll go out for a nice dinner and talk about it.”
It would have been great if buying a meal would have helped secure a transfer but unfortunately for Stevie and Liverpool, that is not how a transfer works. We need loads of investment from the owners to be anywhere near securing a transfer for one of the world’s best young prospects, as he stands valued at around the £131m figure as per The Athletic.
With today’s performance against Chelsea, it is absolutely crystal clear or if not, should be absolutely crystal clear that the Reds need to reinforce their midfield department and cannot trust young Harvey Elliott to put in game-changing performances in an unnatural position for the youngster.
The likes of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner will in all likelihood depart the club this summer, and we need to look beyond them and secure a few top-class signings to help the Reds sail through this phase of transition and there are hardly any options better than Bellingham.
Hopefully, Gerrard sooner than later buys him that fancy dinner which could potentially channel the youngster’s mind toward signing for the Reds and continue to shine at Liverpool as he is at Dortmund.
