Liverpool right-back Calvin Ramsay talks about making his Premier League debut shortly

Liverpool signed Calvin Ramsay last summer from Aberdeen and he is one of the best talents to come out of Scotland in recent times. In the two appearances for the Liverpool first team, the right-back showed tremendous composure on the ball and defensive stability as well.

The 19-year-old however, is yet to make his Premier League debut. The only reason for his limited game time could be his injury issues. As earlier mentioned, he was top quality even in only three minutes against Napoli in the UEFA Champions League and judging from those two games, he is an excellent understudy to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Scotland international would hope to make his Premier League debut for the Reds and incidentally, spoke about the same with the club’s official website. Now obviously back from all injury issues, the former Aberdeen man would hope to make his debut in the English top tier soon.

Here is what he told the club’s official website on making his PL debut:

“I’ve said it a lot, but that would be another special moment. Growing up, I watched the Premier League and I wanted to be in those players’ shoes, to be here at a club like Liverpool. The league here is very different to back in Scotland.”

“Up there it is very physical with some big guys playing, but down here it is more technical with a lot of players who are very good on the ball.”

Ramsay to make his debut soon in the Premier League?

Obviously, the Scottish game is much different to England as rightly pointed out by Ramsay and he will need time before he is a first-team regular or even a bench option. Currently, James Milner is playing second fiddle to Trent for the right-back spot and surprisingly Milly also started against Chelsea.

Ramsay’s adjustment to the Premier League is also affected by his lack of experience at the top level. He has spent most of his career playing in the lower leagues. While he has shown great potential, he will need to prove himself against some of the best players in the world.

The Premier League is a big step up from the lower leagues, and Ramsay needs to work hard to adapt to the new level of play. The Reds play a high-pressing, attacking style of football that requires a lot of energy and focus from all players.

The former Aberdeen man will obviously need to learn the Jurgen Klopp system and how to play his role effectively. This will take time, and he will likely be eased into the team gradually instead of rushing into making him play.
