It seems like Brighton and Hove Albion are adamant on their stand of not letting their man go this window. Moises Caicedo stands linked with a number of clubs including Liverpool and Arsenal. The Ecuadorian international is a key player for Roberto de Zerbi and it is understandable why they do not want to let him go.
The 21-year-old was subject to a bid earlier this week by Arsenal but the Seagulls rejected it. Moreover, the Gunners’ very recent second attempt to sign the player also stood rejected as per Football Journalist Charles Watts’ Twitter
handle.Liverpool somehow need to get their hands on the player next summer if not this January. The recent FA Cup loss to Brighton was a testament to how strong our midfield is. We looked most in control of the game when 18-year-old Stefan Bajcetic was in DM and that speaks levels of the team’s situation right now.
Regular starters like Jordan Henderson and Fabinho underperforming have certainly put the club in an extremely tough position. Knocked out of all domestic cup competitions, ninth place in the league and yet to face Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. Things are certainly not looking great for Jurgen Klopp and Co. at the moment.
Moreover, with the dying contracts of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the Reds obviously need to strengthen their midfield as none of these players are remotely close to getting a contract extension given their current form.
Caicedo is young, full of energy, is a wonderful presser and seems like a good fit in De Zerbi’s style of play which is very similar to Klopp’s. That could also make him fit in well at the Reds and we need to put in a bid for the player as signing a midfielder is extremely important for Liverpool to sustain their future.
However, lately, it has become evident via his press conferences that Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool will delay their revamp of midfield until the summer which could mean that the Reds’ chase of Caicedo could be cut short.
