Barcelona want to sign Liverpool target Sofyan Amrabat

According to Gerard Romero of Jijantes FC, Spanish giants Barcelona are planning a sensational deadline-day move for Liverpool midfield target Sofyan Amrabat.

Romero, who is generally reliable when it comes to transfer news surrounding Barcelona has claimed that the Spanish club will try to sign the impressive Moroccan on loan with an option to buy in the summer.

Amarbat, whose claim to fame came in the recently concluded World Cup in Qatar has been linked with a move to Liverpool, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid in the recent past but Fiorentina have been reluctant to sell.

There is absolutely no reason for the Italian club to change their stance right now and this interest from Barcelona could be heading to a dead-end after all. However, it has paved way for a very interesting story to watch out for on deadline day.

Earlier this month, Corriere dello Sport (via Liverpool Echo) did claim that Jurgen Klopp had set his sights on bringing the 26-year-old midfield ace to Anfield but concrete talks never ensued between the two parties.

Barcelona are now in a race against time to sign the talented midfielder with not much time left before the transfer window closes. Liverpool are unlikely to enter the race for Amrabat so late in the window.

Amrabat would actually be an ideal signing for Liverpool. Fabinho Tavares, who is our most obvious choice in the holding midfield role has been having a shocker of a season and has lost his place to Stefan Bajcetic.

The Spanish teenager as good as he is might not yet be ready to start for the Reds regularly. Someone like Amrabat considering his age and his profile would be the ideal fit for Jurgen Klopp.

That said, we have seen in the past that World Cup performances don’t generally translate into club form for a player. It remains to be seen if he moves to Barcelona. It seems unlikely but this transfer window is full of surprises and this could be one of the final ones.
