Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp unhappy with players’ body language at Brighton

A fortnight ago, Liverpool flew back from The Amex after a disappointing 3-0 defeat which Jurgen Klopp described as the worst game in his managerial career. Fast forward to today, the Reds are on the back of another loss against the same opposition but a 2-1 scoreline in the FA Cup this time.

However, the performances in both games were very different as it felt for the initial few minutes of the game that the Merseysiders had a plan in mind and stuck to it. However, as the game progressed, the drop-offs in energy levels were visible and that obviously cost Liverpool the game eventually.

The manager is certainly not one to miss out on these minute details and spoke about how the change in body language was certainly not desirable and talked about how it should be better next time around.

Here is what he said via Liverpool Echo:

“We have to build on these kind of things. We have to improve and the body language from a couple of the boys has to be much better.”

“What else is there to say? When I speak about body language today, it wasn’t okay, next time it should be better.”

Major Overhaul needed at the Reds

With a Champions League spot on the line, every point matters and every performance must be at its highest level. Liverpool are presently as far away as possible from a top-four spot and need to set right a few things in their quest of finishing in any of the top-four spots.

Klopp knows this all too well, and he has stressed the importance of maintaining a positive attitude and having strong and positive body language, even in the face of adversity. The Reds must maintain their focus and intensity, even when things are not going their way, and remain disciplined in their approach to the game unlike they were against the Albion.

With Liverpool not in any cup competitions anymore, the entire focus could now be channelled towards getting the best finish in the league. Getting the better of Real Madrid in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League will certainly help move things along.

Liverpool are certainly not in top form at the moment and understandably it is tough for the team to maintain a positive body language on the pitch but it is the least they can do from this point, isn’t it?
