Galatasaray hold talks with Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita
Naby Keita finds himself among the Liverpool midfielders running out of contract in June later this year. The 27-year-old central midfielder has been shilly-shallying at the Reds ever since his much-hyped move from RB Leipzig in 2018.
The player has stood far from worth the £52.75m Liverpool paid for him. It is extremely sad that a player of such calibre is so often on the sidelines due to his injury issues, but nobody apart from Keita himself can claim the responsibility for the same as well.
The club is likely to lose the player for free in the summer as he is running out of contract and there have been no talks of an extension as well. And at the same, as per A Spor via Liverpool Echo, Turkish Giants Galatasaray hold talks with the Guinean international.
Keita to Galatasaray?
As per FIFA rules, any player in the final six months of their contract can negotiate with other clubs outside Europe. As was the case with Georginio Wijnaldum a couple of seasons ago when he moved to PSG, Keita could see himself moving in a similar state of affairs.
With only ten appearances this season across all competitions, Keita is only starting to feature more in this phase of the campaign after his return from injury. Alongside Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner, the trio will in all likelihood move on from the Reds.
This calls for an urgent reshuffle as Liverpool will find themselves in a state of bother with not enough midfielders and hence, the need to get on board new players in the summer gets absolutely real.
The club should acknowledge the effort Keita put in during his time with them and thank him for his services but it is high time that the Reds move on and rather rely on players who are fit and available whenever the need arises.
The Reds should focus on building a strong squad and they should look to strengthen their team in areas where they are lacking, rather than relying on an inconsistent player who has not been able to stay healthy.
