Report: FSG’s current stance on Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp amidst a poor run of form

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp retains full backing from the owners despite the current form

According to The Athletic (subscription required), Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp retains full backing from the club owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) despite the current rut in form.

Liverpool are yet to win a league game in 2023 and have an abject record constituting three defeats and a draw. They have conceded nine goals in their last three away league games, scoring only one in the process.

The Reds are currently sitting 10th in the table with chances of getting into the top four diminishing by every passing week. The team seems vulnerable at the back, light in the middle and blunt at the top.

But, despite all of that happening, there is a bigger picture to be had. It is vehemently clear to everyone now that this team needs a major overhaul in the coming summer window. It may actually take at least three windows to build a team capable of challenging again, that too provided the owners are willing to spend some money.

With what Klopp has done so far for the club in the last seven years, he has more than enough credit in his bank to go through this transition period and gets backed in the summer to make the necessary changes.

At times this season it has felt like the manager himself cannot wait for the summer to arrive when he can make the changes needed to get this ship back on track.

With Julian Ward set to leave in the summer, the club also needs to appoint a new sporting director who can directly work with Klopp and be a link between the manager and the owners. AS Monaco director Paul Mitchell has been linked recently.

More Liverpool News:

However much angry we are at the owners, it is time to back the manager more than ever. He is working with a hand tied behind his back. Hence, the more support he gets from us, the more he will sort this mess out soon.
