Liverpool linked with a move for Barcelona forward Ansu Fati
Ansu Fati, the 20-year-old Barcelona forward, stands linked with a move to Liverpool, amid interest from Manchester United as well. The Spanish forward has been a sensation in La Liga, impressing fans and experts alike with his speed, dribbling skills, and clinical finishing.
According to renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano (h/t Liverpool Echo), the Premier League’s biggest teams are in a race to get hold of the player. Even though Fati is such a promising talent, the reason Barcelona could see him depart is far from footballing grounds.
A recent report by The Athletic talked about how Barcelona needs to adjust their books and reduce a huge figure of £177m in wages to fit under La Liga’s regulations. With the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha above him in the pecking order, game time has certainly been tough to come by for Fati.
Moreover, Fati’s rise to prominence has not gone unnoticed, and it seems that two of the biggest clubs in the English Premier League, Liverpool and Manchester United, are both keen on securing his services.
Fati to move soon?
Manchester United, on the other hand, has been linked with Ansu Fati as they seek to bolster their attack. The Red Devils have struggled to find a consistent scorer this season apart from Marcus Rashford.
However, from a Liverpool perspective, the need for one more attacker just sounds completely avoidable. Roberto Firmino is in line for a contract extension and apart from him, we have Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez to play in attack. Adding to that, Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliott are also long-term prospects from an attacking perspective.
But having said that, Fati is a player of immense talent, and his signing would be a major coup for either Liverpool or Manchester United. The Spanish forward still has his best years ahead of him, and it will be exciting to see which club he joins next if he moves.

In conclusion, while there may be many links and rumours surrounding Ansu Fati’s potential move to Liverpool or Manchester United, a transfer may not be as realistic as it seems. The 20-year-old Spanish forward is a key player for Barcelona, and it is unlikely that the club would be willing to let him go.
