Liverpool ready to make an offer for Wolves ace Ruben Neves
Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Ruben Neves stands linked with a move to Liverpool for a long time now. The 25-year-old Portuguese international is one of the top midfielders in the Premier League and has also attracted eyes from clubs abroad including the likes of FC Barcelona.
Reports emerge that the Reds are now apparently ready to make an offer for the former FC Porto midfielder. According to Sport (h/t Liverpool Echo), Neves also had a number of offers from a host of clubs for a potential move and that includes Liverpool as well.
Moreover, the same reports also talk about how Manchester United and Newcastle United both have made offers to sign Neves from Wolves. His contract at the West Midlands club lasts until 2024 (Transfermarkt) and this summer window could be the last major chance his club have to get a substantial amount for the player.
His versatility makes him an ideal option for clubs looking to strengthen their midfield. Liverpool certainly need to give strength to their midfield given how their existing players are slowly starting to show signs of ageing and cannot possibly stay at this level for a prolonged period of time.
Could Neves move to Liverpool?
Neves is an able defensive midfielder who is capable of playing further advanced positions in the middle of the park as well. The player, in 26 appearances across all competitions this season, has five goals all coming in the league. He scored one of three goals for his team in their 3-0 win over Liverpool recently.
The summer of 2023 sees the Reds undergo a lot of changes. Three midfielders are all but set to leave the club this June when their contract expires and Liverpool certainly need to balance the act out. Neves is certainly a player who could make a difference at the Reds and help them out of the mess they find themselves in.
Besides, apart from Jude Bellingham, Neves is probably one of the best players who stand linked with a move to the Reds. Hopefully, Liverpool can get a deal through for the player as he is a special talent. If Liverpool, as the report suggests, are actually ready to make an offer to sign Neves, there should be no second thoughts about it.

In any event, the Reds must certainly look to sign a midfielder, possibly more given they are currently in a phase of transition and there are also a lot of inconsistencies creeping in the way Liverpool are playing at the moment.
