Liverpool join the race to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen
Going back to Liverpool FC’s first group-stage game in the UEFA Champions League earlier this season, Napoli and their attackers totally fried the Reds in the game that ended 4-1 in Luciano Spalletti’s side’s favour.
One of the major standouts of that game was 24-year-old centre-forward Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian international played for only 41 minutes in that game but that was enough for him to wreak enough havoc.
Liverpool Echo reports that the club is reportedly in the race to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli and that is for sure going to excite the fans of the Merseyside outfit. In 21 appearances across all competitions this season, he already has 17 goals and four assists. Alongside the Reds, the report adds that Real Madrid also look to sign the player to replace Karim Benzema.
Osimhen to move soon?
With Liverpool and Real Madrid reportedly entering the race to sign him, it’s clear that Osimhen is attracting the attention of some of the biggest and best teams in world football. Manchester United are also said to be interested in the striker, who are leading the race to get him.
This is a testament to the quality of the player and his potential to be one of the world’s top strikers. Liverpool, with their attacking prowess, is always on the lookout for talented forwards and Osimhen fits the bill perfectly. He has the pace, power, and finishing ability to be a star in the Premier League.
However, with a plethora of options already available at the Reds’ disposal, there seems to be no urgency in getting on board a striker. This is purely from a Liverpool perspective. However, with a number of contracts dying down this June, getting in more depth cannot certainly hurt a team like ours, which seems to have a love affair with injuries.
The Nigerian international has a contract until 2025 (Transfermarkt) with the Italian giants. Osimhen’s impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, with several top clubs across Europe said to be monitoring the striker’s progress as mentioned earlier.

He could be the perfect fit for almost all top European teams, but at the moment, Liverpool certainly do not need another attacker, as they could rather get in a midfielder or two next summer.
