Luis Diaz eager to help Liverpool save their season
A knee injury early in October meant that Luis Diaz would be out of action for Liverpool for a substantial period of time. However, his return to fitness was quick enough for him to stand involved in the Reds’ mid-season training camp in Dubai.
But the worst thing that could happen, actually did and Lucho suffered an injury during Liverpool’s warm-weather training camp in December and saw himself out of action for much longer. It almost seems like a long time ago since Diaz played for Liverpool.
In the early weeks of the season, he was among the best players for the Reds and he scored three goals and two assists in eight league appearances before his injury situation. That seems a lot given how the Reds were struggling to get going in the early weeks of the season. Nothing much has changed since then as we are still not close to a top-four spot.
Speaking to The Telegraph, Diaz spoke about how eager he is to come back to action and help the Reds strengthen their case and help Jurgen Klopp and Co. in their pursuit of a top-four finish.
“First of all, I want to be back and after that I know there are a lot of matches before the end of the season and I just want to help the team with my football.”
“The idea is to be back and help the team with all my friends and team-mates. I want to be back to make a good second part of the season.”
Lucho for the Reds
As of February 3, manager Jurgen Klopp told the club’s official website that Diaz is back running but it could still take some weeks for him to return to team training and get right back into the thick of things.
Speaking of his impact, Diaz, ever since his move to the Premier League just more than a year ago, took the English top tier by storm and quickly adjusted to the new environment. Diaz is extremely consistent and hopefully, the injury has not changed much in the way Lucho plays his game as he is an absolute treat to watch.
The 26-year-old Colombian international has 10 goals and eight assists in 38 appearances for the Reds across all competitions and would hope to continue his positive form for Liverpool even after his return from injury.

The Reds have certainly dearly missed Lucho and with him back in the squad, we could make a stronger case for ourselves as he is capable of magical things as we have seen in his short spell at Liverpool already.
