Liverpool are in talks with Torino defender Perr Schuurs
According to Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are in talks with Torino defender, Perr Schuurs, over a possible move in the summer.
The young centre-back has been turning heads with his impressive performances for Torino since joining the club as a replacement for Gleison Bremer last summer. However, Liverpool are not the only Premier League side interested in signing the Dutchman.
According to reports from Tuttosport, both Manchester United and Tottenham have also expressed an interest in acquiring Schuurs’ services. It’s no secret that Liverpool have been struggling with injuries in their defence this season.
Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate have both suffered significant injuries. There is no doubt that the Reds need to strengthen their defence if they are to mount a serious title challenge next season.
That’s where Schuurs comes in. The 23-year-old is a talented defender who has impressed in Serie A this season. Standing at 6’3″, he is a commanding presence in the box and is comfortable with the ball at his feet.
He has also shown an ability to read the game well and make crucial interceptions. However, Torino are reportedly demanding a fee of over £40 million for the defender, which could prove to be a stumbling block for Liverpool.

Schuurs could be a shrewd investment for the Reds. He is young and has a lot of potential, and with the right coaching, he could develop into a top-class defender. However, he is still young and a work in progress.
Liverpool fans will be hoping that Schuurs is not the only defensive signing that the club makes in the summer. The likes of Joel Matip need to be shipped out and we need to be alert for proper reinforcement.
