Inter Milan plan to cash in on Liverpool transfer target Marcelo Brozovic
Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic is linked with a move to Liverpool, with the Italian club reportedly wanting to cash in on the midfielder in the summer transfer window. While there are question marks over how the Croatian international would fit into Liverpool’s midfield, his potential arrival could stand timely given the expected departure of Naby Keita.
Keita has struggled with injuries and inconsistent form during his time at Liverpool, leading to speculation that he could leave the club in the summer. If Keita does depart, Liverpool would lose a midfielder. However, Brozovic could prove to be a suitable replacement for the Guinean international.
Calcio Mercato (h/t Liverpool Echo) reports on the Reds’ interest in the 30-year-old defensive midfielder who could also play advanced roles. His contract at the San Siro expires only in 2026 (Transfermarkt).
Brozovic is an experienced midfielder, who possesses a range of qualities that could benefit Liverpool’s midfield. He is an accomplished playmaker, with an eye for a smart pass and the ability to create scoring opportunities for his teammates. He is also an excellent ball carrier, able to drive the ball forward and take on opponents with his dribbling ability.
Could Brozovic move to the Reds?
With over 300 games for Inter, he possesses a lot of experience and also has 30 goals and 37 assists to his name for I Nerazzurri. Furthermore, Brozovic’s work rate and defensive capabilities could make him a valuable addition to Liverpool’s midfield.
The Reds’ midfield is built around high pressing and intense work rate, which is certainly an area where Brozovic excels. His tenacity and ability to win back possession make him a perfect fit for Liverpool’s style of play.
His age might be the only issue the Reds might take into consideration. He is 30 years old and the Reds could probably do themselves better if they could possibly get on board younger players like Jude Bellingham or Mason Mount among others.
