Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold speaks about the win vs Newcastle United
Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo scored the goals that put Liverpool over the line and earned the Reds a well-deserved victory against Newcastle United. The Uruguayan’s first goal was inch-perfect with Nunez taking down a beautiful Trent Alexander-Arnold ball with the same perfection and smashing it past Nick Pope.
Mohamed Salah’s chipped through over the Newcastle backline made it the easiest of tasks for Gakpo to finish as well. After that, it was just about keeping the clean sheet and helping out Alisson as he deserves for his services throughout the campaign.
It was refreshing to see the pair of Liverpool fullbacks go at it full-throttle. Even though they were brilliant against Everton, Newcastle provided a different test and it was good to see the Trent x Andy Robertson combination working wonders for the Reds again.
Trent spoke to Sky Sports (h/t BBC) on the win and here is what he had to say:
“It’s massive. This was a big one. We got our win against Everton, that was a massive one for us as well. It would have meant nothing if we’d come here and hadn’t backed it up with another win.”
The win against Everton surely helped the Reds gain a lot of confidence and we could see that in the opening few minutes of this game as well. After a shaky 10 minutes, the Reds found their feet at St. James’ and got the better of Newcastle rather comfortably.
Liverpool climbing up the table
With this win, the Merseysiders climb up to the eighth position in the PL table and would hope to keep the winning run alive for as long as possible to help secure a top-four finish as well. That shall certainly help Liverpool get their ideal transfer targets on board, and help Jurgen Klopp and Co. through this phase of transition in Liverpool’s midfield.
For the Reds, every win is crucial in their push for a top-four finish and a spot in the UEFA Champions League. Trent’s comments reflect the team’s relentless determination to achieve their goals. With the season entering its final stages, every match counts, and Liverpool will be looking to maintain their momentum in the weeks ahead.

In the end, the Premier League is a marathon, not a sprint, and Liverpool will need to maintain their high level of performance for the remainder of the season if they are to achieve their goals. With players like Trent leading the way in terms of performance, however, the Reds can be confident that they have what it takes to go the distance.
