Liverpool ‘closely monitor’ Bayern midfielder Ryan Gravenberch
Renowned journalist Kenny Hau told the Die Bayern Woche podcast on Sport 1 (h/t Liverpool Echo) that Liverpool are ‘closely monitoring’ the situation of Bayern Munich’s Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.
The 20-year-old who joined the Bundesliga giants from Ajax in the summer is yet to establish himself in the starting line-up apart from the odd start here and there. And Liverpool, who are in desperate need of new midfielders, apparently look at the player as an option who could bolster the squad alongside the potential addition of Borussia Dortmund superstar Jude Bellingham.
Observers have long touted Gravenberch as one of Europe’s most promising young talents. He made his debut for Ajax at the age of 16 and quickly established himself as a regular in the first team before his move to the Bundesliga.
However, despite his talent, Gravenberch has found game time hard to come by at Bayern. The German champions have a wealth of talent in midfield, including the likes of Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich, both of whom are established stars at both club and international levels.
Could the Dutchman move to the Reds?
Liverpool, on the other hand, have been in need of reinforcements in midfield for some time now. The Reds have struggled with injuries and form in that area of the pitch in recent seasons, with the likes of Jordan Henderson and James Milner both in the twilight of their careers.
Gravenberch would be a perfect fit for Liverpool’s midfield. He is young, energetic and has an eye for goal, as evidenced by his impressive goal-scoring record for Ajax. His ability to drive forward with the ball and create chances would also be a huge asset to the Reds, who have sometimes lacked creativity in the middle of the park.
Moreover, Gravenberch is a very able defensive midfielder as well, which could add a dynamic sense to the Reds’ line-up. Liverpool are currently in a transitioning phase, with manager Jurgen Klopp looking to rebuild his squad given the Reds are going through an extremely tough season.
Of course, there is no guarantee that Liverpool will be able to sign Gravenberch. Bayern are unlikely to want to part with such a promising young talent, and the player himself may certainly be happy to stay put and continue his development in Germany.

Nevertheless, Liverpool would be wise to closely monitor Gravenberch’s progress over the coming months. If he continues to impress at Bayern and remains on the fringes of the first team, the Reds should not hesitate to make a move for him.
