Liverpool have been given a boost with Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha a doubt for the clash

According to Liverpool Echo, in a boost for Liverpool, Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha is in danger of missing the trip for the game.

Cunha was signed by Wolves from Atletico Madrid on an initial loan deal in the January transfer window and is definitely the first-choice forward if fit.

However, after a hefty challenge, the forward was withdrawn mid-game in the fixture between Wolves and Fulham. Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui has confirmed doubts over whether the Brazilian will be available for the trip to Anfield.

“We have to wait until tomorrow.

Tomorrow he is going to have an MRI (scan) and we have to wait for the check.”

In a season where disappointment is a small word to describe how every Liverpool supporter feels, an injury to the opposition is a welcome boost in our bid for the top four.

The humiliating defeat against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League laid bare our deficiencies in midfield and defence.

It showed how far the team, which was competing for an unprecedented quadruple last term, has fallen off in a space of fewer than twelve months.
