Liverpool are tracking Chelsea defender Levi Colwill with Arsenal also interested
According to Football Insider (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Chelsea defender Levi Colwill, who is currently on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 20-year-old has caught the attention of Liverpool’s coaching staff after impressing with his performances for the Seagulls. Colwill has primarily played as a centre-back during his loan spell at Brighton, but he is also capable of playing on the left side of defence or as a left-back.
This versatility would undoubtedly be attractive to Liverpool, who have had their fair share of injury woes in defence this season. Whilst Andy Robertson has been solid as ever, the central defence has been compromised this season.
However, it remains to be seen whether the Blues would be willing to sell Colwill, as they didn’t insert an option to buy in their loan agreement with the Seagulls. Furthermore, Arsenal are also reportedly interested in the young defender, which could drive up his price.
In any case, it is clear that Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Colwill’s development. When you put in an impressive display in a 3-0 trashing of Liverpool, you are bound to get noticed and that’s exactly what has happened with the Chelsea loanee.
Of course, Liverpool fans will be eager to see some new faces in the squad after a disappointing campaign so far. The Reds have struggled to mount a serious title challenge this season, and their defence has been a major cause for concern.
Signing Colwill would give Liverpool another option at the back, and his versatility would be a real asset. However, it’s worth noting that he is still relatively inexperienced, having only made a handful of appearances for Brighton so far.
Ultimately, whether Liverpool make a move for Colwill will depend on a number of factors, including his price tag and whether Chelsea are willing to sell. Nevertheless, it’s encouraging to see that the Reds are keeping an eye on promising young talent like Colwill.

If Graham Potter is still the manager of the Blues come next season, it’ll be a huge surprise if he sells Colwill. However, crazier things have happened in football and if the Reds manage to sign him, he will be a great option for Jurgen Klopp.
