Liverpool midfielder James Milner receives an MBE for his services

According to Liverpool’s Official Website, Liverpool midfielder James Milner receives an MBE for his services to football and charity.

The 37-year-old has played for over 20 years and going in the Premier League, and represented the England national team on 61 occasions before retiring.

Along with that, Milner built up a ‘James Milner Foundation’ to promote the healthy recreation of younger people in the United Kingdom.

Milner is one of the most professionally aligned footballers of the modern generation. Starting from his career with Leeds United to Liverpool to date, he is a manager’s dream and an ideal squad player.

Since arriving at Anfield from Manchester City in the summer of 2015, the 37-year-old has been one of the best servants of the club on and off the field. His leadership skills are always lauded by Jurgen Klopp.

Moreover, the former England international has probably played in every outfield position. If we look at his Liverpool career, Klopp has used him as a fullback, midfielder, winger and one time as a centre-back in 2019.

Combine his work in football with the work he does for charity, there aren’t many as deserving as Milner for an MBE.

In terms of his Liverpool future, the 37-year-old’s contract expires in the coming summer (Transfermarkt). Klopp has inclined his wish towards keeping the veteran as he is a massive influence in the dressing room.

Given that he is super fit and knows that at his age, asking for regular minutes is stupidity, offering him a new contract with the aim to hand him the coaching role in the future would not be a bad idea.
