“100 percent commitment”- Danny Murphy namedrops PL star Liverpool will be desperate to land

Danny Murphy says Liverpool would be desperate to sign Mason Mount

Liverpool Football Club and their issues in midfield this season are obviously as evident as possible. The three most underlying issues which the Reds need to address come the summer transfer window of 2023 are the ageing squad, slim depth and inconsistent performances. Mason Mount stands linked with the Reds and could prove to be a good addition.

The Reds need to shake up their squad and bring in a good set of players in the summer, and the two games against Real Madrid provide enough proof of this. Two of the biggest names the Reds stand linked with are Mount, and Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.

Even though ideally, we should get both of them, the Reds’ frugal nature could mean that they would not want to spend a lot of money and that is where Mount holds the edge over Jude, as their prices would be drastically different, and the Chelsea boy could come at a much cheaper rate.

Former Liverpool star Danny Murphy had his say on the situation, and here is what he had to say via Liverpool Echo on the prospect of Mount joining the Reds:

“I am getting 100 per cent commitment from a player who loves the club. Who’s got great technical ability, and who can play in multiple positions.”

“I think he is a super talent and a really good character. I’m on board with him. I love everything about him.”

“I would be desperately trying to get him at my club if I was Liverpool.”

“They will all be in for him. They will all try and get him. Newcastle, Liverpool, United will go in for him.”

Could Mount move to the Reds?

During his time at Chelsea, Mount has certainly shown that the player is capable of committing to the team’s press and much like skipper Jordan Henderson, Mount can run around the lengths and breadths of the pitch.

The energy levels and technicalities Mount would bring to Liverpool would certainly help the team in the current transitional phase we are in. Moreover, the contracts of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain run out in June later this year, and we need new players to take charge sooner than later.

Moreover, Mount’s style of play fits perfectly with Liverpool’s high-intensity, pressing style. He is a tireless worker and possesses excellent technical ability, which would make him a natural fit in Liverpool’s midfield.

In conclusion, Liverpool would be wise to pursue Mason Mount as a price-worthy buy. He would bring much-needed depth and quality to the midfield, and his youth and potential for growth certainly makes him a valuable investment for the future of the club.
