Liverpool are one of the contenders to sign Gabri Veiga from Celta Vigo
According to Teamtalk (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool love Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga and are firm contenders to sign him in the summer window.
Veiga has been one of the best young players in La Liga this season. He scored nine goals and assisted three in 28 appearances in all competitions while playing most games as a central midfielder and some as an attacking midfielder.
The 20-year-old is a versatile player who can operate in multiple midfield positions and do a job in the forward line as well.
Along with Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal have already been linked with the Spaniard. He has a release clause of £35m. So, the clubs know exactly what price is required to be paid to sign the player.
Veiga would add a creative spark, passing accuracy, high work rate and great technical ability on the ball to any team he plays for in the future.
At that price, the Celta Vigo man would be a great business for any of the Premier League clubs interested in him.
Liverpool are hoping to bolster their midfield department in the coming summer. Their primary midfield target is Jude Bellingham, while Mason Mount is in the ‘highly likely’ category when it comes to the chances of him signing for the Reds.
Irrespective of what happens with the other two targets, Veiga should be on the club’s radar for a summer move.
The Spaniard is a young player with promise and great talent. It is a great mixture for Jurgen Klopp to work with. The German is an ideal manager for bright young players because he is not afraid of giving them the chance to shine in the senior team.
