“Win all the titles”- Liverpool defensive colossus reaffirms his long-term commitment to the Reds

France international Ibrahima Konate sees his long-term future at Liverpool

Liverpool star and France international Ibrahima Konate has revealed that he sees his long-term future with the Anfield side.

The centre-back made his way to the Reds in the summer of 2021 from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig. Since then, the 23-year-old has shown a lot of promise under Jurgen Klopp with some impressive displays.

Speaking to the media via Liverpool Echo, Konate does not imagine himself being at a better club than Liverpool. He hoped to stay at the Anfield side for many years and achieve success.

“When you play for Liverpool, the question honestly is, ‘Where can I go next?’ And to last at this club, you have to perform. My goal is to be part of the team in the short and long-term, and of course to win all the titles.”

Last season, the French national enjoyed a stellar debut campaign. While the centre-back did not feature much in the Premier League, he played a pivotal role in our run to the Champions League final.

In the 23-year-old’s debut campaign, the Merseyside outfit made it all the way in all four competitions. Unfortunately, the Reds ended up losing the UCL and missed out on the PL title on the final day.

However, Konate started in every game of our FA Cup triumph as we beat Chelsea in the penalty shootout. The French national also played a part in our Carabao Cup final win over the Blues.

In the UCL, the 23-year-old started in all but one match from the round of 16 to the finals against Real Madrid. However, Los Blancos got the better of us once again, just like in 2018.

Unfortunately, in the current campaign, injuries have hampered the centre-back’s development and opportunities in the team. The defender has made just 14 appearances in all competitions for Klopp’s team this term.

Konate has shown massive promise during his short time with Liverpool. Hopefully, the French national will be able to get over his fitness issues and become the leader in the Reds’ backline for many years to come.
