Haydn Dodge believes Liverpool have made a bid of around £100 million for Jude Bellingham

According to an exclusive interview with Caught Offside (h/t Liverpool Echo), British agent Haydn Dodge has revealed that Liverpool have made a transfer bid of around £100 million for Borussia Dortmund ace Jude Bellingham.

The 19-year-old is one of the most sought-after players in world football and has been on the Reds’ radar for some time now. Jurgen Klopp needs to refresh his midfield and bringing in Bellingham will give him the cornerstone to building the team around for the upcoming decade.

Should the news of a bid turn out to be true, it will make the youngster the club’s most expensive transfer. But then given that he will be cheaper than the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Liverpool will do well to get him for the price.

“It is not surprising to see them going all out for Bellingham”

Still just 19, Bellingham has already established himself as a star with Dortmund and the English national team. He is among the players spearheading the former’s title charge against Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga with four goals and assists apiece in 24 league games.

Brimming with energy and technical ability, he is the elite ball carrier that Liverpool craves to transform their stoic midfield roster. With the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid all interested, landing him will be a coup for the Reds.

Liverpool appear ready to make their move and Hodge believes a bid just shy of the 100 million figure mark has been submitted. Should that be the case, it would appear that the Merseysiders are keen to move fast and get a deal over the line.

“It’s known that a bid [from Liverpool] just shy of £100m has been submitted for Jude Bellingham ahead of this summer’s transfer window.”

Liverpool will need more than just Bellingham to address their woes in midfield ahead of the 2023/24 season. Landing him will undoubtedly give them the pedigree to show that the club means business, potentially attracting other players of a similar quality to join the revamp.

For now, we will take this news with a pinch of salt. The Reds have been masters of the transfer market in recent years and have very rarely dropped the ball in terms of revealing information about their dealings.

Bellingham is a generational talent and it should not come as a surprise if the club chooses to go all in sooner rather than later. By acting first and decisively, we can avoid getting into a bidding war, saving money that can be used to bring in other players.
