Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas gets injured on international duty

According to Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopolous (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas has picked up an injury while on international duty representing Greece.

The Greek Scouser incurred a problem on his right hip that forced him to come off just after 23 minutes of action against Lithuania in the International friendly.

It remains to be seen whether that setback is a long-term one or if he will be able to run that off in the coming days.

Although Tsimikas is not the first-choice left-back in the Liverpool side, he is one of the important players.

Whenever Andrew Robertson needs rest or drops off in form, the Greek international is there to play the games and provide quality analogous to the Scotsman.

If we look at Liveprool’s schedule starting Saturday, it is gruelling, to say the least. They face Manchester City away from home on Saturday afternoon before visiting Chelsea on Tuesday. That week will be rounded off with the toughest test at home to Arsenal next Sunday.

Robertson played the whole game against Spain in the European qualifiers on Tuesday night. Will he be able to follow that up by playing all of those three games mentioned above? He won’t say no to it, but Jurgen Klopp would like to have options available, isn’t he?

For that reason, it would be important if Tsimikas recovers from this hip issue very soon. The Greek international may be required to cover up for his fellow left-back in the squad.
