Liverpool transfer target Alexis Mac Allister’s price quote emerges
Brighton and Hove Albion’s World Cup winner with Argentina, Alexis Mac Allister, is a Liverpool transfer target for quite a while now. While there was no clarity on the financial aspects of the potential transfer until now, reports emerge that the player could cost the Reds upwards of £60m.
Calciomercato via liverpool.com claim that the player could cost any suitors around the £66m mark. The 24-year-old is under contract at the Seagulls until 2025 (Transfermarkt) and given that, any opportunity to lure him will obviously come at the cost of a big fat cheque. The report also speaks of the Merseysiders’ interest in Moises Caicedo.
Mentioning that the Reds certainly need a midfield overhaul is like going over the fact that water is wet. It is as obvious as it can get from an outsider’s perspective. Only about time that the people in charge of transfers at Liverpool stand reminded of their jobs and get on board some top players for the Reds to remain relevant and competitive at the top level of European football.
Liverpool are in all likelihood, going all in on someone like Jude Bellingham. His transfer fees would be nothing short of a £100m and with that in mind, it is highly unlikely that the Reds spend £60m on Mac Allister.
Who to sign?
However, there is a belief that even in case the Reds channel all their resources towards getting Jude on board, there is an outside chance that Liverpool could do a combination transfer of either the Englishman+Mac Allister or Jude+Caicedo.
Moreover, with the likes of Mason Mount and Ruben Neves on our books as well, the chances of the Reds signing either of these two players are probably greater than that of the Argentine given their performances in the league for a greater duration.
Now, the decision to take is whether the Reds stay open to signing two of Brighton’s best midfielders as opposed to the idea of going all in for Jude, who has been on our radar for almost forever now.
Without a strong midfield, Liverpool’s transition play suffers, affecting their overall game. They need a dynamic and creative midfielder or maybe two who can control the game and link up with the forwards. Their rivals are strengthening their squads, and Liverpool cannot afford to fall behind.
