Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold opens about crunch fixture list for the Reds
Heading into the business end of things in the Premier League, the Reds certainly have a tough list of games coming up in the next two weeks. On April 1st, we clash against Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City side away from home followed by London giants Chelsea (A) and Arsenal (H). Trent Alexander-Arnold recently spoke about the same and obviously how that shapes Liverpool and their campaign.
After an extremely uneasy start to the campaign, we are in the middle of March, knocked out of all but one competition, and that is the league. Even in the English top tier, the club has been far from the best, and we currently see ourselves in sixth, fighting for a top-four spot.
With the first two fixtures of these three away from home, it’s clear that the Reds have a challenging run-in, but they will be hoping to pick up maximum points from these games to secure a top-four finish. Who will be among the most crucial players for the Reds in this phase? Trent.
Here is what he had to say about the run-in via the club’s official website and how pivotal that could be for the Reds:
“Definitely, I think [if] we get three big results and it’s game on really, and hopefully the season pushes on to be a good one. These three results can define the season if we let it and if we want it to. We want to go out there and win all three games – and that’s our plan. I think as a team we’ve probably lacked that confidence at times during the season.”
“But to go and get big results against big teams will instil that confidence back within us. We’re excited as a team, we’re looking fresh, good in training and we’re excited. It’s going to be a big week and then hopefully a big end to the season for us.”
Tough set of games for the Reds
The trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea is another huge fixture for Liverpool. While the Blues have had a disappointing season so far, will be looking to finish on a high and could prove to be tricky opponents for Liverpool.
Alexander-Arnold’s ability to maraud down the right flank and create chances for his teammates will be key in breaking down Graham Potter’s side and securing all three points. The final game in Liverpool’s tough run-in sees them take on Arsenal at home.
The Gunners have been in excellent form under Mikel Arteta and will be looking to strengthen their title charge with a win over Liverpool.
Once again, Trent’s attacking ability will be key, as he looks to create opportunities for Liverpool’s forwards and push Arsenal back onto the defensive as the Reds look to get maximum points from these games.
Following these three games are matches against Leeds United and Nottingham Forest. Notably, the reverse fixtures for both these games ended in extremely disappointing losses. Hopefully, the Reds have a sense of revenge on their mind.
