Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reacts to Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers getting the sack
Speaking in a press ahead of the next Liverpool game, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp gave his honest opinion on the sacking of Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers in the last 24 hours.
Early on Sunday, Leicester City mutually parted ways with Rodgers after the Foxes lost at Crystal Palace on Saturday. Later in the day, Chelsea sacked Potter after another home defeat, this time at the hands of Aston Villa.
Both teams are massively underperforming this season and need instant improvements to even get close to their targets. This is the second sacking of the season for Chelsea after Thomas Tuchel was handed the exit in September.
If we talk about underperforming teams, Liverpool’s name comes at the top as well. Here’s what their manager Klopp said about these sackings (h/t Metro):
“What can I say about that?
“The elephant in the room is how I am still sitting here in this crazy world? The last man standing!
“Both clubs are not in spots they expect to be I can’t say much more. I know them both well, I respect them both, I like them both. They are both really good people and fantastic managers.
“Things can go the wrong way and decision-makers think they need to change. We all accept this part of the business.”
It is a balanced take from a manager who knows he is safe at Liverpool, but things are fickle around the world. The thing going in Klopp’s favour is that everyone around the club will trust him over anyone in the building.
So, if we have the option to clear everything out but keep the German, we would do that and then build a team with him.
Truth be told, this is not blind faith as well. Under Klopp, Liverpool have reached heights not many could do before. So, we know he has that in him to make another team and bring back those glory days and nights.
It is a matter of patience now. This season looks like it is slipping away, although the top four is not out of the equation after Manchester United’s defeat and their recent form.

After a humbling defeat at Manchester City, are the players motivated enough to play the last 11 games as cup finals and win as many of them as possible? On the evidence of what we saw on Saturday, it looks unlikely.
