Glen Johnson backs Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to rebuild the club
The ongoing phase of transition has obviously been extremely tough for Liverpool to handle as they currently find themselves in the eighth spot on the Premier League table with just a minute chance of making it to the top four and Jurgen Klopp would know how big it would be if the Reds miss out on that front.
The manager has faced a lot of criticism in recent weeks for team selection and choice of substitutions but former Red Glen Johnson feels that there is nobody better than Klopp to manage the Reds out of this mess they find themselves in and ensure that the Reds fight for titles and win some silverware next season and beyond.
Despite the team’s poor form, Johnson has faith in Klopp’s ability to turn things around and lead the team back to success. He remains confident in Klopp’s tactical acumen, motivational skills, and his ability to manage players effectively.
Here is what he told DAZN Bet via ECHO:
“I definitely think he is still the man to do it, for sure. He hasn’t lost his ability to coach or motivate players. When Liverpool were at their best, their pressing was ridiculous and God knows what their running numbers were,”
“It’s so hard to maintain that level with the same group of players that he has had there. They almost need to rebuild and get some new players in who buy into his philosophy in the same way most of this group of players did from day one.”
Is Klopp the guy?
There is no manager in the club’s history who has seen success from close quarters as Klopp has. The manager has won whatever the game has to offer and one bad season doesn’t surely discount his work behind the scenes for so long. As Johnson rightly said, it is just a cycle and he has to get through the process as he did from day one. The solution lies in a good rebuild laid in a strong foundation.
However, there is no doubt that the club will have it tough to replace Klopp in case he decides to cut short his contract and leave the club prematurely and likewise for the club as well, who would have it extremely tough to find a replacement in case the board decides to sack him (hopefully not).
Moreover, the Reds are currently trailing ten points behind the teams in the Champions League positions and would need a remarkable end to the season to have any hope of catching up with Newcastle United and Manchester United.
It is important that the Reds take each game at a time, and by the scruff of the neck and try to wrap it up as early as possible. Play attacking football for which Liverpool are famous and get the result in the bag. If the Reds have this mentality, there is certainly no reason why they won’t make the top four.

Hopefully, the Reds find their feet again and get back to winning ways as soon as possible. The fans have stood accustomed to a different Liverpool in recent seasons, and it is obviously very difficult to see Jurgen Klopp’s men struggling like this.
