Liverpool star James Milner could leave Anfield next summer

After eight years of service at Anfield, Liverpool midfielder James Milner looks set to depart the club this summer. The veteran had previously looked ready to leave last year but ended up signing a one-year contract extension with the Reds.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs via Give Me Sport, Milner would like to extend his stay at Liverpool, but the club has always been under the impression that this season would be his last. This news comes after a difficult year for the Reds, who have struggled to maintain their form and suffered a number of injuries to key players.

Milner has been a key part of Liverpool’s success in recent years, helping the club win the Premier League, Champions League, and FIFA Club World Cup. His versatility and experience have been invaluable to the team, and he has proven himself to be one of the most reliable players in the squad.

His contract at the club expires later this year in June, and the Reds could really do with his services until then, given the scarcity of central midfielders at the club. Having said that, during his time at the club so far, the services of Milly have been commendable and the former Leeds United man has stayed a true professional throughout.

Trust Milly to get the job done

However, with Milner now 37 years old, Liverpool may feel that it’s time to move on and look for younger options in midfield. The club has been linked with several players in that position, including Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and Chelsea’s Mason Mount.

If Milner does end up leaving Liverpool this summer, it will be a sad moment for the club and its fans. The midfielder has been a true professional during his time at Anfield and has always given his all for the team. They really don’t make them like him anymore.

Despite his age, Milner has shown that he still has plenty to offer on the pitch. He has been a regular starter for Liverpool this season and has provided important leadership both on and off the field.

It’s possible that Milner could look for another challenge elsewhere, or even consider retirement. However, given his professionalism and dedication to the sport, it’s likely that he will continue playing for a few more years yet.

The fans will no doubt be sad to see Milner go, but will also appreciate everything that he has done for the club during his time there. His departure will open up new opportunities for younger players to make their mark at Anfield and will signal a new chapter for Liverpool’s midfield.
