Wolves slash price for Liverpool transfer target Matheus Nunes
Liverpool could reignite their interest in Matheus Nunes after reports from Football Insider via ECHO claim that Wolves are willing to drop their asking price for the midfielder to just £30 million if they see themselves relegated to the Championship this season.
Before his move to Wolves, Liverpool had been monitoring Nunes’ progress and were believed to be interested in acquiring the services of the Portugal midfielder. However, the Midlands side were able to secure his signature, despite the reported interest from Liverpool.
Now, with Wolves facing the possibility of relegation from the Premier League, they could stand forced to sell Nunes at a reduced price. The 24-year-old certainly has the skill set to play for a club in the UCL.
For Liverpool, the opportunity to sign Nunes at a reduced price could be too good to pass up. The midfielder is one of the most promising young talents in Europe and could be a valuable addition to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Nunes to the Reds finally?
Of course, there are no guarantees when it comes to signing young players, and Nunes would be no exception. However, his performances for Wolves this season have been impressive even in a struggling side, and he has shown that he has the potential to be a top-class midfielder at the highest level.
If Liverpool were to make a move for Nunes, they would be getting a player who is comfortable in a number of different midfield roles. He is a creative player who is able to link up well with his teammates and could score the odd goal then and there.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will make a move for Nunes, but the reduced asking price could certainly make him a more attractive prospect.
With the club looking to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season, the Portuguese international could be just the player they need to help them compete at the highest level.
