Liverpool could strike a record deal to sign Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

According to Fichajes (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool could strike a club record to sign Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the summer window.

After moving to Naples last summer, the Georgian has had a sensational season and is one of the key reasons behind Luciano Spaletti’s men doing well. They are close to clinching the Serie A and still in the quarter-final tie of the Champions League.

The report reveals that the Reds could make an eye-catching offer of close to €130m to get the player. He may leave Napoli if a high price comes this summer. Real Madrid and Paris-Saint Germain are interested in him too.

The 22-year-old has got 14 goals and 16 assists in 33 appearances in all competitions, forming an excellent partnership with Victor Osimhen up front.

As good a player as Kvaratskhelia is, Liverpool don’t need to sign him now. The club have splurged a lot of cash in getting three forwards in the last 15 months – Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz.

Moreover, having seen them pull out of their primary target Jude Bellingham because he is too expensive, it is impossible that they will spend the quoted money to sign the Georgian.

So, let’s talk in referential terms now and hope that the Reds spent the money in the right way to accomplish the squad rebuild in the summer. After missing out on Bellingham, they must sign the right midfielders that will Jurgen Klopp in taking us back to where we must belong.

From now on, any report suggesting Liverpool will pay magnanimous money to buy a player can be ignored with glee. This club has its limitations, probably forced by the pocket-tight owners.
