Liverpool handed solid blow in their pursuit of 20-year-old Bayern Munich star

Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch ‘not for sale’ amid Liverpool interest

One of the latest players that saw himself linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer of 2023 is Ryan Gravenberch. However, according to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany via ECHO, Bayern Munich do not intend to sell the player, despite his struggle to settle into the Bavarian squad.

The 20-year-old Dutchman joined Bayern in the summer from Ajax and since then, has struggled for minutes due to the staunch presence of the likes of Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich in the middle of the park for Julian Nagelsmann, and now Thomas Tuchel.

In 27 appearances across all competitions this season, he has a solitary goal and as many assists. While he has not been able to get going by any means, Bayern do not intend to sell the player, as he is still young, and adapting to the needs of a new league.

This would come as a huge blow to the Reds, as following the retraction of interest in the Jude Bellingham race, Gravenberch was one young option who could provide the Reds with what Jude could have.

What next for Liverpool?

However, the Reds also see themselves linked with the likes of Matheus Nunes, Alexis Mac Allister, Conor Gallagher and Mason Mount and if not Gravenberch, we could hope that the Reds get on board somebody among them.

Liverpool’s midfield has been a cause for concern in recent seasons, with injuries to key players and inconsistent performances contributing to the team’s struggles and it is almost imperative that the Reds add on to their squad ahead of the new season.

The team’s management will likely be considering a range of factors when deciding on their next course of action.

They will need to consider who could fit the Reds best if not for Gravenberch and try and get on board someone who could provide a glimmer of hope for the next campaign and after that.

More Liverpool News:

While the news that Bayern Munich is not willing to sell Ryan Gravenberch this summer may be a setback for Liverpool, it is unlikely to deter the team from pursuing other options as they work to strengthen their midfield and compete at the highest level of European football.
