Latest updates from the training at Liverpool amidst allaying of fears over the absence of a duo
Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez missed Tuesday’s training session for Liverpool, but Liverpool Echo understands it is not injury-related.
The report reveals that the defensive duo were working on individual fitness programmes ahead of the game on Saturday against Nottingham Forest.
While Gomez was not involved in the match-day squad against Leeds, presumably because he is not been in good form, Konate played the full game at Elland Road and continued to impress irrespective of a crazy moment to hand the opposition a goal.
Apart from these two, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who are set to leave the club in the summer as their contracts expire, were not seen in the training as well.
Luis Diaz, on the other hand, looked in good spirits and took part in the full training session. The Colombian made his first appearance for Liverpool against Leeds on Monday since October. He must be itching to get a start as soon as possible.
With three days still to go for the Forest game, we should expect Konate and Gomez to train with the team and be a part of the squad come Saturday.
The former has been in great form and is the first-choice centre-back partner of Virgil van Dijk these days. If he remains for the remaining eight games of this season, we might win the majority of them.

We have had a lot of false dawns this season. Jurgen Klopp must make sure that the big win over Leeds isn’t a one-off anymore. His team needs to back that up with a win over Forest before facing West Ham away and Tottenham at home next week.
