Liverpool star Alisson expects Anfield to “be on fire” vs Nottingham Forest

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker expects Anfield to “be on fire” for the game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

After smashing Leeds United 6-1 at Elland Road on Monday, the Reds return to Anfield for an important game against Steve Cooper’s side.

Forest will be coming into this game after a comfortable defeat at the hands of Manchester United. After doing well since the World Cup, they have fallen back again and are currently in the bottom three.

While this game looks easy on paper for Liverpool, we must remember that they lost to Forest at the City Ground back in October. Talking about it and expecting Anfield to rock, here’s Alisson (h/t Liverpool FC website):

“Football is quick! We have a different opponent now in front of us. They have their goals, they need to reach their targets. We have ours as well. We come from a game where we found our way back and they come from a game they lost.

“They want to show a response, for sure, for their supporters, for themselves. But we are focused on things that we need to do and prepare as best as we can to get on the pitch. It’s a home game, it’s always good to play [there], to have your supporters there helping you. I hope Anfield will be on fire on Saturday afternoon.”

Forest are the worst team in the Premier League this season when it comes to away games. They have only got six points from 15 games. They have scored five and conceded 36 in those games (Transfermarkt).

It should be an ideal game for Liverpool to start well, score big and rest some players for the two key games coming up against West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur next Wednesday and Sunday respectively. But, we never know in football!

Alisson, who has been our best player without a doubt, was surprisingly less busy during the Leeds game. The Brazilian must be hoping that it remains that way for the remainder of this season. If that happens, it means that the team is doing all over the pitch.

The win over Leeds put us within six points of fifth-placed Tottenham. While finishing in the top four looks unassailable at the moment, getting fifth and acquiring Europa League is reachable and won’t be a bad result from a season of grave disappointments.
