“Keep it going”- Liverpool ace keen to end stuttering campaign on the front foot

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson wants to end this season on a high

Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson has called for the team to show their best selves and end this season on a high.

The Reds are on a four-game unbeaten streak since getting smashed by Manchester City on the 1st of April. They defeated Leeds United and Nottingham Forest to rekindle their hopes of finishing in the European places.

If Jurgen Klopp’s men win their remaining league games, there is a high chance of them finishing either fourth or fifth in the table.

Here’s what Robertson said when asked about the recent run of games and what needs to happen from now till the end of May (h/t Liverpool website

):

“It’s been a good kind of run for us in the last couple of games and we have to try to keep that going because it’s a lot easier coming in every single day when you’ve got the three points in the bag.

“We’re expecting a really tough game on Wednesday, but it’s one we’re looking forward to and one we have hope for and one we look forward to being a part of. Hopefully, if we’re at our best we can get enough to get the three points and bring them back up the road.

“We have to keep it going. Of course we do, we have to try to keep up picking up points, keep trying to pick up wins and try to keep on improving on our performances. The performances of late have been relatively good and pleasing. And that’s the main thing, we have to then turn that into points, which we’ve been good at the last four games, we’re unbeaten [in] four.”

In one stretch, Liverpool have not won three consecutive league games this season. That’s how inconsistent they have been.

If they manage to beat West Ham United later today, it would not only make it three league wins in a row for the first time this season but also increase the confidence in the squad that they can go on a run of wins to add pressure to the teams above us in the table.

Robertson, who has been mediocre this season, has done well in the last few games. If he and Trent Alexander-Arnold play well, Liverpool generally win games of football.

The latter has been enjoying his new hybrid role as a right-back-cum-central midfielder. We hope he continues to do that for the remainder of this campaign.

It has been a tough season for many reasons. Things have not come easy for Klopp and his men. Certain mistakes have been made to reach this low after all the highs of last season. Can they forget the past and focus on winning the games to give themselves the best of finishing as high as possible? We will wait and see.
