AC Milan are leading the race to sign Roberto Firmino for free in the summer

As per Calciomercatoweb (h/t Liverpool Echo), AC Milan are leading the race to sign Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino, who will be available for free this summer.

A few weeks ago, Firmino revealed that he will leave Liverpool once his contract expires at the end of this season. It will end an eight-year stay at Anfield, that was filled with great memories, trophies and much more.

The report states that along with Milan, Juventus and Inter Milan are also interested in signing the Brazil international. The former have already signed

A week ago, Daily Mail

reported that Firmino has agreed terms to join La Liga leaders Barcelona. However, Liverpool Echo has revealed that Blaugrana have turned down the chance to sign the 31-year-old.

The former Hoffenheim forward has made it clear that he won’t sign for a Premier League rival because of his respect for Liverpool. That is such a great gesture from a player who gave everything for the club while he was here.

In a way, the Brazilian’s style of play kind of suits the Italian league. So, if one of the Milan clubs or Juventus sign him, it would be a shrewd addition to their squad.

Let’s hope that Firmino gets a proper send-off at Anfield during the last home league game against Aston Villa on the 20th of May. The 31-year-old is currently injured, but Jurgen Klopp does not think he would out for long.

More Liverpool News:

There are not many, if any Liverpool supporter who doesn’t love Firmino. He has been such a positively infectious person in and around the squad. He always plays with a smile on his face, which is a great sight for the fans.

Wherever he goes next, we Bobby all the very best! He will always be a Liverpool legend.
