Liverpool are eyeing a move for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare
According to 90min (h/t Express), Liverpool are eyeing a move for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare as part of the midfield reshuffle in the summer.
The Ivory Coast, who once drew comparisons with former Chelsea legend Michael Essien, is tipped by his current boss and former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy to go to the very top.
The report also reveals that the 25-year-old has a release clause of £33m in his contract which sets to expire in the summer of 2027 (Transfermarkt).
Sangare is a central midfielder by trade, who can operate as a defensive midfielder if need be. He rose to prominence with the French side Toulouse before making a move to PSV in 2020.
The Ivorian has made 129 appearances in all competitions for the Eredivisie side, scoring 12 goals and assisting nine (Transfermarkt). He has been an imperious presence in the middle for van Nistelrooy’s team.
Since pulling out of the potential deal to sign Jude Bellingham, the pressure is naturally ramped up on the Liverpool recruitment staff to get the signings right this summer. Jamie Carragher wrote a column saying they need to restore some of the trust lost in the Bellingham cock-up.
Getting players like Sangare would help matters a lot. The 25-year-old is a technically strong player, who loves physical challenges and aerial duels. He is good at passing and has a good shot in him.
With a mediocre release clause in his contract, the Reds can exercise that and sign him this summer. We have already done some positive business with PSV by getting Cody Gakpo in January.

That deal was done smoothly. Can the club use the past experience to offer another deal to the Dutch side to sell Sangare? They definitely can.
