Liverpool are among the clubs interested in signing Ajax wonderkid Devyne Rensch
As per Simon Jones of Mail Sport, Liverpool are among the clubs that are interested in signing the young Ajax sensation Devyne Rensch.
Brighton and Hove Albion and Arsenal are the other two Premier League sides who are in the race for the 20-year-old, who predominantly operates at right-back.
The 20-year-old has been with the Ajax Academy since 2016 and made his senior debut during the 2020/21 season. He has played in every position across the back line for the Dutch side, but the right-back is his primary position.
If we talk about the current season, Rensch has got three goals and one assist from 32 appearances in all competitions. 26 of those appearances came at right-back.
The Dutch international is an incredibly pacy fullback who does not hesitate in making runs up and down the field. He is physically and defensively strong, can dribble past people and possesses an excellent passing range.
With the recent change in the system by Jurgen Klopp
at Liverpool where we are seeing right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold move into midfield in possession, the need for a versatile right-back became apparent.
Since Rensch can play as a centre-back in a three and a right-back, his flexibility could come in handy for the Reds boss to use.
It remains to be seen whether Klopp fancies having an exciting young talent to challenge or protect Alexander-Arnold’s forward-thinking game or look to get someone a bit more experienced.
The reason this is being said is that the German already has Calvin Ramsay and Conor Bradley at his disposal – two exciting young right-backs.
