Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp charged by the FA for his comments on the referee Paul Tierney
According to BBC, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been formally charged by the FA for his comments on referee Paul Tierney in the aftermath of the Tottenham Hotspur game on Sunday.
The FA have labelled Klopp’s comments as “bringing the game into disrepute” and constituted it as “improper conduct”. The German has until Friday (May 5) to respond or challenge the charge.
The Liverpool boss ran towards the fourth official when Diogo Jota scored the winning goal in that game and made irresponsible comments about the on-field referee in the post-match interview.
In the pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Fulham, Klopp admitted that by making comments on Tierney, he opened the box that shouldn’t have been done. He also accepted that he should have celebrated the winner scored by Jota rather than being angry at the fourth official for a decision not made for the foul on Mohamed Salah.
This is not the first time this season that Klopp will potentially get a punishment though. During the Manchester City game at Anfield in October, he berated the linesman for not giving a clear foul by Bernardo Silva on Salah.
The on-field referee Anthony Taylor sent him off and the German had to undergo a one-match touchline ban as well.
We expect the boss to get similar or heavier punishment this time around. After the Fulham game on Wednesday, four games remain this season for Liverpool. Let’s wait and see what happens on this front in the coming days.

The way Klopp was behaving in the latter stages of the Spurs game, shows how much he cares for the club and the team. While we hope that he learns from the punishment because we want him on the touchline for every game, the passion shown is serenaded by us Liverpool fans.
