Trent Alexander-Arnold explains why Liverpool’s ‘mood is a little low’ despite win vs Fulham

Trent Alexander-Arnold was awesome once again in his newfound midfield role as Liverpool recorded a narrow 1-0 win against Fulham in the Premier League at Anfield yesterday (May 3).

Mohamed Salah‘s goal from the penalty spot six minutes before the 45-minute mark did the trick for us. The Reds have now won five league games in a row.

However, the English right-back believes the mood at the club and among the fans may be a little low due to where the club currently stand. Despite their wins, Liverpool are still fifth after 34 games.

They trail fourth-placed Manchester United, who have two games in hand, by four points. It will take a catastrophic downfall from Man United to hand us a top-four finish.

What next for Liverpool?

On top of that, we are not active in any competitions. Last year, we were on course for the quadruple come the month of May. Trent said after the game, via BBC:

“It’s not where we want to be and that’s as a club as players, staff and fans. We want to be in title races at this stage of the season or in genuine top four races. We’re not in that right now and that might be why the mood is a little low.”

First and foremost, we need signings. The club are in a good moment and players like Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo have found form at the right time in the build-up to the new season.

There is still something to fight for this campaign but the focus has to shift to the next season as soon as possible. The club has to make sure they are ready to bring in world-class midfielders to make sure Jurgen Klopp has a team capable of mounting a title charge again.

Apart from that, it seems we have found the rhythm. This season’s sacrifice will be worth it if we can win something in the next 12 months. But for that, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) will have to get out their wallet and support Klopp.
