Liverpool ‘cool interest’ in Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo
Liverpool have cooled their interest in a move for Brighton & Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo in the upcoming transfer window, according to Football Insider (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The Reds are unlikely to join the battle to acquire the services of the Ecuador international next summer. Instead, the Anfield side will turn their attention to his teammate Alexis Mac Allister.
In the coming months, the 21-year-old is expected to be one of the hottest properties on the market, with top teams eyeing his signature. Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea have the midfielder on their radar.
Caicedo joined the Seagulls in the winter window of 2021 from Independiente del Valle. In the previous campaign, the Ecuador international was out on loan at Beerschot in Belgium. He returned to the Seagulls in January and entered the East Sussex side’s starting lineup.
This season, the midfielder has established himself as one of the most sought-after prospects in the Premier League. He has caught a lot of people’s attention with several dominant displays in the Amex Stadium side’s engine room.
Along with the 21-year-old, Mac Allister has also been pivotal at high-flying Brighton. Roberto De Zerbi’s team are challenging for a European place in the league table. The 24-year-old Argentina international has been world-class.
Liverpool’s midfield is set to lose multiple stars at the end of the season. James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are in the final year of their current contracts at the Anfield side.
The Reds have struggled in the middle of the park in the current campaign as well. Fabinho has looked like a shadow of his former self. Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara have been sidelined on several occasions.

Therefore, we evidently need multiple reinforcements in the engine room next summer. However, it looks like Caicedo is not one of the players the Maerseysiders will pursue in the coming months.
